Things to Do

It goes without saying that Hillcrest Golf Club is the star of the show. Established in 1969, this prestigious golf club is famous for its meticulously maintained greens and stunning views that overlook the town of Durango and the La Plata Mountains. In addition to the championship size golf course, Hillcrest has a full-size driving range, a putting green, and an additional short-game practice facility. Various golf tournaments take place there, with the Navajo Trail Open being one of the most well-known. 


Connect with nature by exploring the Horse Gulch Trail System, which is a favorite among locals for hiking and mountain biking. The plethora of connecting trails make it easy to go for a quick hike or turn your hike into an extended adventure. The peak of the hike is the Meadow, which offers inspiring 360-degree views and wide-open space vistas. Rim Trail and Lion’s Den is another popular hiking spot, complete with unimpeded views of Downtown Durango. You might also want to consider taking a yoga class at The Sweaty Buddha, where you can rejuvenate your mind and body.
